Two women on the brink of giving birth were forced to evacuate an Alabama hospital after it received multiple bomb threats – and ended up having their babies in the parking lot.

Tessa Kilgore, 21, and an unidentified woman were among 76 patients evacuated from Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper about 8.30am Friday, with one of the threats targeted at the hospital.

The Oakwood resident had just started pushing when she was wheeled outside, delivering her baby Kylie under an oak tree as the bomb squad stormed the hospital.

The first-time mother panicked as her medical team and child’s father, La’Darrick Babbs, shielded her from prying eyes with blankets.

Within 30 minutes, her daughter Kylie Babbs was born weighing five pounds, eight ounces.

At first I didn’t know if I was supposed to push or not,’ the new mom told
Daily Mountain Eagle.

‘I was scared, especially when they put up the blankets around me taking me to the parking lot.

‘It was just crazy.

‘I  didn’t know what to think. I was as shocked as everyone else about (having to be evacuated). She would pick today to be born when all this was happening.’

Mother and child were then taken to Alabama Outpatient Surgery Center after the safe birth.

‘By the time she was born, I didn’t care who was around and watching,’ Kilgore said.

‘It was quicker than I thought it would be.’

‘We do have an investigative team that is working on the source of this threat,’ Jasper Police Chief Connie Rowe told Fox 6.

‘We have contacted ATF and other federal agencies to assist.’
