A Michigan man’s wallet was returned this week 54 years after he lost it.Clarence Van Dyken lost his wallet in 1959 and hadn’t seen it until Aron Schut found it while repairing his home – which he bought from Van Dyken – after a recent flood. Schut tracked down Van Dyken’s son to return it, according to a local media report. The contents may have begun another mystery.‘I started sweeping up the insulation and inside was a wallet,’ Schut told a local TV station
, adding that he thought it was a strange place for a wallet.

Opening the ancient brown wallet, showed Schut the ID of a familiar name, that of a friend he knows through church, he told Fox 17. That friend happened to be Van Dyken’s son.
‘I recognized the name, it sounded familiar,’ Schut told the station. ‘I know his son.’
All it took was a couple of phone calls to track down the Van Dykens and return the lost wallet, Schut added.After being told by his son Clare that a church friend was taking apart their old house and found his wallet, the elder Van Dyken’s response was priceless.

Going through the long-lost wallet revealed two $1 bills, one dated 1935, an auto repair receipt for $16 and the combination to a lock box Clarence Van Dyken claimed to not remember.
‘Who’s lock box is that?’ he asked.
Also inside were pictures, a driver’s license and a shopping list, according to the station.
‘I never thought I would see that beaut again,’ Van Dyken said.
