‘You could say this is a miracle,’ second floor neighbor Dorett Sinclair told the Toronto Sun.
About 5:45 Sunday neighbors heard a woman hysterically screaming ‘my baby, my baby,’ according to the paper.
The mother rushed down to her toddler after he fell from the balcony to the patio, picked up the baby and held him in her arms, according to Sinclair, who yelled from her balcony to a passerby to call 911.
The baby was awake and crying by the time paramedics and police arrived.
‘As much as it is sad that he fell, it’s also pretty miraculous that he didn’t suffer much injury as a result of falling six floors,’ Peel Regional Police Constable George Tudos told the Sun.
Neighbors told the paper that the baby and his mother were home alone at the time of the accident and believe that he likely climbed up on something before tumbling to the ground.
Police haven’t released the names of the mother and child, but are investigating under the assumption it was an accident, reported the Sun.
Cops are optimistic the baby will be fine, ‘it looks promising and we’re praying he will make a full recovery,’ said Tudos.
