This adorable shot of an infant dressing up is one of a series of pictures shot on the set of spoof photographer Alison Jackson’s latest project as she prepares to celebrate the birth of Kate and William’s first child.
Using a group of her favourite lookalikes – and a very special new addition to the clan – Jackson has been busy creating her vision of how the royal baby’s first photoshoot might look.
Who would wear a mini crown like this? Alison Jackson is on location with her royal lookalikes – and a very special new addition
First the new parents pose for some formal pictures with William’s grandmother ‘The Queen’ and his father ‘Prince Charles’.
No doubt the real royal family will want the baby to get in some early practise of dressing up in the elaborate regalia required of monarchs, and here the baby is accessorised with a gaudy crown (unlike the real Crown Jewels, the gems on this one are genuinely fake).

Alison Jackson has carved a career out of creating tableaux using lookalikes of the rich and famous and the royal family is one of her favourite subjects

Following the location shoot at the Milestone Hotel Jackson then takes ‘baby Cambridge’ out in to Kensington Park gardens, Will & Kate’s local park, as she anticipates the crowds that might gather to snap the couple on their first outing as a family.
Fake Kate is dressed demurely in a lace navy dress and the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite nude court shoes while her lookalike husband wears a sports jacket and chinos
Instead of the old-fashioned Silver Cross pram that most people would associate with a royal baby though the modern couple have opted for a more standard polka dot patterned style that any new parents can pick up on the high street.
Unsurprisingly amazed passers-by rush towards the couple, snapping away on their smart phones, believing that they might be some of the first people in the world to catch a glimpse of the new heir to the throne.
Jackson, who has been creating celebrity tableaux for 15 years, is unruffled: ‘People see what they think they want to see. There is a wall of myth around royals and A-list celebrities, and that makes us wonder what they are really like.
‘We see them on magazine covers so often that we think we know them intimately, and we want to learn more. I like to burst that bubble a little.’ she explained to The Telegraph.

Disbelieving members of the public seem to have forgotten that the royal baby is yet to be born
The 50something photographer, who earned a Bafta for her BBC Two series Double Take, has created a mini media empire out of her obsession with celebrity.
Her own website is a clever parody of the world’s best celebrity news sites and she hopes to build on this offering daily topical shots. Another film and a weekly TV show could also be in the pipeline.
‘I’m not satirical in a traditional way,” she explains. ‘What I do is more about creating caricatures and cartoons. I am commentating on the nature of how we live through photography, and how you can twist an angle to create a different perception of a person.’
Meanwhile two miles up the road some very real preparations are taking place as the crowds of journalists, broadcasters, cameramen and photographers outside St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington continue to wait for the arrival of the new third-in-line to the throne.
The Duchess of Cambridge is now three days overdue, having been given a delivery date of Saturday 13th July.

HOW KATE (AND ALISON JACKSON) PREPARED FOR THE BIRTH
Little is known of the planning, preparation and day-to-day build up for the royal birth that has been going on behind the guarded palace walls.
But thanks to famous look-a-like photographer Alison Jackson we can caught a glimpse last week of what the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might be doing.
Like most expectant couples, Alison has her ‘William and Kate’ attending sonogram appointments and birthing classes, while sister ‘Pippa’ is available to step in to help with yoga to prepare the mother-to-be’s body for the arduous task of labour
The two girls are also snapped indulging in spa treatments and even getting a spray tan to keep looking their best, before the couple pick out baby clothes with a woman who looks remarkably like Queen Elizabeth.
With the birth of the royal baby imminent it would appear that the lookalike Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge are keen to fit in some last minute preparations
Kate and younger sister Pippa lookalikes keep fit by hula-hooping together, which also helps strengthen the back and core; essentially in pregnancy
The sex of the royal baby is not thought to be known, even to the Duke and Duchess
While it is doubtful that Kate will ever embrace the TOWIE orange hue, the lookalike knows a glow before the birth will make the photographs outside the hospital far more flattering
