A grandson who bludgeoned his grandmother and then stuffed her corpse in a closet before partying in her apartment with a hooker has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
Larry Davis was sentenced on Tuesday after a Manhattan jury found him guilty last month in the March 2011 death of his 76-year-old grandmother Cora Davis.
Prosecutors said the 24-year-old beat his grandmother to death and hid her body because she wouldn’t give him $175.
They said he then invited a prostitute to his grandmother’s apartment, where they drank alcohol and smoked marijuana for two days while her body lay rotting just feet away.
District Attorney Cyrus Vance said Davis had terrorized his grandmother for years before he killed her.
The 24-year-old is already serving a life term for strangling his cross-dressing lover Richard McCoy to death in 2010.
The body of the 76-year-old Ms Davis was discovered buried under clothes in her bedroom closet in March 2011 – minutes after relatives walked in on her grandson having sex in the same room.
The grim discovery was made when concerned relatives went round to the house to check on the elderly woman who had not been seen for two days.
Nakeema Craig, 20, said at the time that she had been holed up in the Harlem flat with Larry Davis for two days, drinking, smoking cannabis and having sex – just feet away from his dead grandmother.
Miss Craig pleaded guilty to prostitution in 2008 but said she met Davis through a mutual friend.
Davis had previous arrests for drug possession and assault, and his grandmother had a protection order taken out against him.
According to the New York Post, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro told Davis today: ‘You removed from this Earth the one person who cared about you, which speaks volumes about who you are and what you are.’
