Just how many more times is she going to forgive him? Tearful wife Huma stands by Weiner AGAIN as he admits sexting another woman . . . a year AFTER he resigned in shame
- Shamed Anthony Weiner and his wife Huma appeared at a joint press conference today in New York at 5 p.m
- He confirmed he continued to exchange sexual messages online with another woman a year after his resignation in 2011
- Huma said that she was standing by her husband despite the latest embarrassing revelations
- He previously warned there were other ‘relationships’ that had yet to be exposed when he left office
- As-yet-unidentified woman claims their relationship started in July 2012 and continued until about November 2012
- Said their exchanges consisted of frequent online conversations and daily ‘phone sex’ calls
Anthony Weiner and his wife put on an extraordinary united front on Tuesday saying that the latest revelations of his sexual exchanges will not cause him to drop out of the race for New York City Mayor.
An awkward and ‘nervous’ looking Huma Abedin joined her husband to make a rare public statement standing by her man just hours after an unidentified woman released copies of her explicit conversations with the disgraced former Congressman along with pictures of his genitals.
After Weiner gave his statement, he dramatically introduced her as ‘my amazing wife, Huma Abedin.’
‘It took a lot of work and whole lot of therapy to get to a place where I could forgive Anthony,’ Abedin said. ‘It was not an easy choice in any way but i made the decision that it was worth staying in this marriage.’

Speaking in front of almost 100 reporters, Weiner did not deny the anonymous woman’s claims that their six-month virtual relationship began in July 2012, more than a year after he resigned from office amid his first Twitter sexting scandal.
‘Like Mother and Daughter’ – Huma Abedin and Hilary Clinton – Two wives linked through politics and public humiliation brought on by their husbands
Huma Abedin, 36, first began her long association with Hilary Clinton as a White House intern in 1996 – rising to become the former first lady’s traveling chief of staff during her unsuccessful 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.
Recognized for her style and grace, Abedin remains Clinton’s most trusted advisor and was profiled by Vogue magazine in 2007.
‘Huma Abedin has the energy of a woman in her 20s, the confidence of a woman in her 30s, the experience of a woman in her 40s and the grace of a woman in her 50s,’ Clinton told Vogue.
‘She is timeless, her combination of poise, kindness, and intelligence are matchless, and I am lucky to have had her on my team for a decade now.’
The daughter of two college professors, her late father was born in India and her mother was born in Pakistan.
Despite her childhood ambition to be a journalist, Abedin was assigned to the Clinton and not the press office as she originally requested.
Since then, her and Clinton have been almost inseparable.
‘I don’t think you could say they are like mother and daughter,” actress Mary Steenburgen and longtime friend of the Clintons told Vogue in 2007.
‘It’s more like an older sister-younger sister relationship, but it’s definitely familial.’
Before she married Weiner in 2010, her Vogue profile hinted that she had dated John Cusak and Lance Armstrong before she met Weiner in 2008.
President Bill Clinton officiated their wedding – cementing what are now unusual links between the two married couples.
She and Weiner had a child in December 2011, just months after Weiner’s first sexting scandal caused a sensation in Washington D.C.
New York City Mayoral candidate Weiner spoke for approximately five minutes as his visibly uncomfortable wife stood to away from his side.
In a moment described by some political commentators as ‘cringe-worthy’, Abedin approached the podium to defend her husband as the hushed press corp held its breath.
Abedin, the mother of the couple’s 18-month-old son who is also known as Hilary Clinton’s most trusted political aide appeared pained to be in the limelight as she defended her family and her husband in public.
It is estimated she has used her connections to raise $150,000 for Weiner’s mayoral campaign.
Struggling to appear comfortable as she stood behind the podium, Abedin spoke from a single piece of paper and spoke of the struggle she endured the last time to keep her marriage alive.
‘When we faced this publicly two years ago it was the beginning of a time in our marriage that was very difficult,’ said Abedin.
‘And it took us a very long time to get through it. Our marriage, like many others, has had its ups and its downs.’
Admitting that the decision to stay married to the one-time Congressman ‘was not an easy choice in any way’, Abedin spoke about how her husband had prepared her for this moment.
‘We discussed all of this before Anthony decided to run for mayor, so really what I want to say is: I love him, I have forgiven him, I believe in him, and as we have said from the beginning, we are moving forward.’
Just hours after the deeply embarrassing revelations were published, Weiner owned up to parts of the claims even though he has spent months campaigning for mayor of New York City by saying that he has reformed, asking for a chance at redemption.
A screenshot of her lengthy conversations with that user showed more than 35 exchanges that were extremely sexual in nature, and there are only a handful that are appropriate for publication on a widely-read news site.
Many of the messages are descriptions of his sexual fantasies, such as: ‘So I walk in to a hotel room and you are at the end of the bed. naked except for some amazing f*** me shoes. your legs are ******. your feet are flat on the ground you are leaning slightly forward. looking completely in charge.’
‘I like to whisper in your ear while I make love to you. That ok?’ he wrote.
‘Taking a shower. Wanna join me?’
‘Staring at pics of u. Pathetic?’
‘If I met you in a bar and tried to talk to you, would I have a chance?’
‘You are a walking fantasy.’
Weiner apologizes for sexting AFTER his resignation
At one point that man writes ‘I am deeply flawed’.
What is so damaging to Weiner is that these new sex chats took place on a social networking site called Formspring between July and November 2012, more than a year after he resigned from Congress.
That was a time when he was supposed to be working on his marriage to Abedin, who has worked for years as Hillary Clinton’s top aide.
‘I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have,’ he said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
‘While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong.
‘This behavior is behind me. I’ve apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness.
Weiner and the woman allegedly first made contact on July 12, 2012, and carried on for month. She claims that he mentioned the prospect of securing a condo in Chicago so that they could meet in person.
Sharing secret lives: The woman said that her intense chats with Weiner took place between July and November 2012 but that was not the last time she heard from him
The steamy conversations and explicit picture exchanges began to peter out in November, and they spoke only once in December.
TIMELINE OF THE TEXTS
- May 27, 2011: Anthony Weiner accidentally sent a picture of his genitals to all of his Twitter followers, when he meant to send it to a young woman via direct message
- June 16, 2011: Weiner resigned from Congress after initially denying the sexts
- July 12, 2012: Made first contact with unidentified woman who released their conversations and pictures today
- August 2012: He had suggested that he secure a condo in Chicago for them to meet in person
- November 2012: Their relationship fizzled
- April 10, 2013: The New York Times publishes an article profiling the ‘Post Scandal Playbook’
- Days later in April 2013: He reactivated his Facebook and asked the woman what she thought about The Times article
- May 22, 2013: Announces he is running for mayor of New York City
The woman told The Dirty that the last time she spoke to him was when he reactivated his Facebook account to ask her what she thought of a lengthy New York Times profile published in April of this year that detailed his relationship with Abedin and his prospects of launching a campaign to become New York City’s next mayor.
She shared screenshots of their conversations with gossip site, The Dirty, which published lengthy exchanges between the two where they talked about their sexual fantasies.
In the exchanges, a man, believed to be Weiner, talked to the woman under the name Carlos Danger or Dangr33.
The woman said that the bulk of their relationship took place between July 2012 and that November of that year, but that was not the end.
The last time she heard from him was after he and his wife Huma were featured in a lengthy New York Times profile about his effort to rehabilitate his public image.
This exclusive release of explicit photos and conversations by The Dirty comes two weeks after they lost a $300,000 libel judgment to a former Bengals cheerleader.
Buzzfeed names the publisher of The Dirty as Nik Ritchie, who writes that the unidentified woman has hired a lawyer ‘in fear of Anthony Weiner but she is willing to expose his sexual nature to TheDirty.com for the betterment of America’.
Explicit: She said that while she was an adult and 22-years-old when the exchanges happened, she was irresponsible and should have known better
Other women: At the time of his resignation, Meagan Broussard (left), Gennette Cordova (center) and Lisa Weiss (right) all released proof of virtual relationships with Weiner
While remaining anonymous, the woman released a statement to The Dirty justifying her release of the conversations.
Mr Ritchie writes that the woman claims Weiner has ‘a shoe fetish, particularly heels’.
There is another conversation posted on The Dirty– that the woman claims is with the same man- where he ditches the Carlos Danger username and logs on as Anthony Weiner.
In that conversation, the person claiming to be Weiner asks the woman to ‘do me a solid’ and ‘hard delete all our chats here’ in exchange for him putting her in touch with a friend at Politico who was looking to fill a panel of bloggers.
The woman told The Dirty that he allegedly promised her a condo in Chicago where they could meet for a tryst in real life instead of their virtual sessions.
Even before Weiner admitted that at least portions of the revelations were true, there were earlier hints that suggest this can be added to his list of online relationships.
The blank avatar associated with the user who identified as Anthony Weiner is the same one that was used by the disgraced Congressman when he interacted with one of his confirmed cohorts in 2011, blackjack dealer Lisa Weiss.
In Carlos Dangers’ conversations posted on The Dirty, the man mentions that he has two cats. Mr Weiner both mentioned and pictured his two cats in his earlier online interactions, though there is no way of verifying that they are the same cats in question.
There is also Mr Weiner’s earlier warnings that the explicit relationships that the public knew about when he resigned were not the only ones he engaged in, saying that there were likely more to come.
‘Basically, New Yorkers know the story. I did it. I did it with multiple people,’ he told NBC when he was gearing up for his mayoral campaign in April.
He did not go into the specific timeline of his relationship with the unidentified woman, though it was pointed out that if the woman’s claims are correct, he posed for a family portrait alongside his wife Huma and their son Jordan just days after starting up a virtual relationship with the woman.
‘When we faced this publicly two years ago it was the beginning of a time in our marriage that was very difficult and it took us a very long time to get through it,’ Ms Abedin said at today’s press conference.
‘Anthony’s made some horrible mistakes both before he resigned from congress and after but I do very strongly believe that that is between us.
‘I love him. I have forgiven him. I believe in him.’
For his part, Weiner said that his wife was aware that he was still making contact with women he had never met even after he resigned, and he said that his June 2011 departure from Congress was not the end to his inappropriate behavior.
‘She knew all along this process as I was more and more honest with her, I told her everything so this is something we knew going into this season of (campaigning).
‘I’m pleased and blessed that she has given me a second chance. For the past several months I have asked New Yorkers to give me a second chance.
‘Its in our rear view mirror but it’s not far and we continue to work on our marriage. Frankly we’re in a lot better place today or else I would not have run for mayor.’
A number of his fellow mayoral candidates leaped at the chance to call for Weiner to drop out of the race, but the 48-year-old said that was not an option.
‘I’m sure many of my opponents would like me to drop out of the race,’ he said at the press conference, which was held just minutes before a mayoral debate.
‘To some degree this is something we had in front of us,’ he said, referring to the fact that he was well aware that there were other women who could expose his relationships
