Diamonds are a girl’s best friend – unless you accidentally sell them for just $20. Dori Rhoades has been ‘beating herself up’ everyday since the May garage sale when she unwittingly sold a denim jacket with her $18,000 diamond earrings hidden in the pocket for $20 to a complete stranger.

To make matters worse, the 38-year-old also kept a ring her husband gave her and $1,500 in cash inside the jean jacket – ironically to hide it in case she ever got robbed.

A woman has revealed her distress at discovering her husband had accidentally sold her $23,000 diamond wedding ring for $10. Racquel Cloutier, 31, from Laguna Niguel, California, had been in hospital after welcoming her fifth child when her husband, Eric, decided to clear out their home and sell unused items at a community garage sale on June 1st.
