‘1984’ BOOK BY GEORGE ORWELL SURGING IN SALES ON AMAZON THANKS TO NSA SNOOPING SCANDAL

Many “1984” book sales are having online book sellers see a major increase in the classic novel’s overall popularity, as USA Today reported this Wednesday, June 12, that following the recent NSA surveillance and spying controversy, George Orwell’s dystopian piece is experiencing a renewed public interest.

It seems that the “1984” book sales on Amazon.com alone have had a tremendous boost almost overnight. The “1984” classic by George Orwell has made the work rise thousands of spots in the best-seller list, skyrocketing from a roughly 7,000th place all the way up to number 125 on the entire list for the week.

The book sales of “1984” may have seen a bit of an uptick considering that the classic was published 64 years ago this very Saturday, but it is also believed that the NSA spying scandal of late has driven customer interest for readers of the novel through the roof.

On top of the book sales from the national surveillance issue, a solid number of school summer reading lists, notes the Post, could also be contributing to “1984’s” newfound popularity.
