Tillman the English bulldog has proven once and for all that he knows his way not only around a skateboard, but also around a surfboard.
The 60-pound celebrity canine that has made a name for himself as the world’s top four-legged skateboarder entered the eighth annual Lowes Surf Dog Competition-Unleashed by Petco, which was held in San Diego, California, Saturday.
Although it was Tillman’s first time catching waves, the multi-talented pooch did not disappoint his fans, taking first place in the large dog category.

INTRODUCTION
One of the perennial ambitions of Christian Europeans, throughout the centuries, has been the verification of the Bible. Beginning with Eusebius, in the 4th century, Christian writers sought to enlist the histories of Mesopotamia and Egypt to answer the attacks of those who viewed the Old Testament as fable or, even worse, as propaganda.
In this spirit Eusebius, employing the Egyptian history of the Ptolemaic scholar Manetho, constructed a chronology for Egypt based on biblical timescales. Thus for example he followed earlier Jewish commentators in tying in the start of Egyptian history with the start of Hebrew history.

The Department of Homeland Security has opened bidding for the contract to design and engineer the next presidential limousine. Applications to be considered for the project were due this week, and a winner will be chosen by Sept. 29, but due to the sensitive nature of the vehicle, it’s likely we won’t know anything more about it until the new car enters service, possibly as early as 2015.

LITTLE COLORADO RIVER GORGE, Ariz. – Daredevil Nik Wallenda is using the Navajo Nation as a backdrop to one of his most ambitious feats yet — crossing a tightrope 1,500 feet above the Little Colorado River Gorge near the Grand Canyon.
The 34-year-old Sarasota, Fla., resident will set out Sunday on a quarter-mile cable stretched over the gorge that was eyed by another high-wire performer decades ago. The stunt comes a year after he traversed Niagara Falls earning a seventh Guinness world record. He’ll be using the same 2-inch-thick cable he used to cross the falls, only this time he won’t be wearing a safety harness.

SPOKANE, Wash. (RNS) Still angry about the idea of an Islamic cultural center opening near Ground Zero, a group of Idaho gun enthusiasts decided to fight back with a new line of pork-laced bullets.
South Fork Industries, based in Dalton Gardens, Idaho, claims its ammunition, called Jihawg Ammo, is a “defensive deterrent to those who violently act in the name of Islam.”
The bullets are coated in pork-infused paint, which the company states makes the ammo “haram,” or unclean, and therefore will keep a Muslim who’s shot with one of the bullets from entering paradise.
Some weeks, nearly a dozen men and women gather at a Quaker hall in northwest Washington, D.C., where they kneel on prayer rugs laid out to transform the room into a Muslim place of worship. Other weeks, Abdullah, a convert to Islam, sits alone.
He may be the only openly gay imam in the world, and he formed Light of Reform mosque more than two years ago so people like himself could worship without fear. The mosque is one of just a few in the world where openly gay Muslims are welcome, but even there, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people fear harassment, and often stay away.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is looking to close 2-million acres of forest to protect a toad and frog habitat. The service held a meeting in Prather Wednesday to discuss closing parts of nine forests.
The move would affect 14 counties, including Fresno and Tulare counties. The government says it’s trying to protect the mountain yellow legged frog and the Yosemite toad. The population pf the two species have dwindled in recent years.

An immigrant rights activist from Farmers Branch is suspected of being a prolific bank robber known as the Mesh Mask Bandit, the FBI says.
Luis de la Garza, 59, appeared in federal court Friday in connection with the armed robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in April. Authorities believe he has robbed at least 18 other banks in nine area cities.
Another milestone in the history of Google Glass was made Thursday when Dr. Rafael Grossmann used the device to record a surgery he was performing. Grossmann, who is in the Google Explorer program and one of the few to already have glass, wrote about the surgery on his personal blog.
He believed that the platform had great potential for use in healthcare, specifically surgery where it could allow for better intra-operative consultations, mentoring, and education.
