A wealthy Manhattan couple are suing their son’s school for almost half a million dollars after they accused them of rigging a fund-raising auction so it could charge them $50,000 for a finger painting.

Upper East Side socialite Michelle Heinemann and her investment banker husband Jon are suing the Cathedral School of St John the Divine, which their son Hudson Cornelius Heinemann attended until recently.

New York State Police say they’ve arrested a woman wanted for a string of high-end jewelry thefts in Florida – and one of her victims was a New York Giants player.

Police said on Saturday that Subhanna Beyah, 25, was arrested on fugitive from justice charges in Queens after detectives from the Miami Beach Police Department asked the state police to help locate her.

She was arraigned early on Sunday in Queens on the fugitive warrant and remains in custody.

When we first noticed, we assumed Treasury.gov was down for un-scheduled maintenance, but now, 10 hours later, it appears the site is down for other reasons? Overwhelmed by NSA DDoS attacks (as government pension funds seek more information on where their investments are heading)? Sequestration claimed the Webmaster? Hacked? Or simply the first cost-cutting measure for a Fed who just suffered their largest loss ever in a quarter (of course, that is, if they were bound by ‘normal’ mark-to-market rules). There are no explanations as yet.

Jeff Markin: Back from the Dead, Reborn Into the Light

CBN.com – It was the morning of September 20, 2006.  Jeff Markin recalls heading for work as usual.  What he doesn’t remember is driving himself to the hospital.

He had called his boss and told him he didn’t feel well. His boss was concerned and convinced Jeff to go to the emergency room.  Somehow Jeff made it.  Once he got there, he collapsed.

Dr. Chauncey Crandall was doing rounds in the intensive care unit that morning. He recalls, “An alert call came over the PA system that someone had arrived at the hospital with a massive deadly heart attack. Then a second call went out over the PA system and specifically asking for me because I was the cardiologist on that day. When I arrived there, it was like a war zone. It was chaos. Everyone there fighting to keep this man alive.”

The ER staff worked on Jeff for 40 minutes. They shocked him a dozen times. Despite their efforts, there was no response.
